Monthly Meetings

Part of Tri-State’s mission is to educate the public, sharing the region’s railroading heritage and culture so that it may live on. Each month we host a meeting, to update our members on our efforts, and also feature an hour of railroad-oriented entertainment with guest speakers and photography exhibitions.

  • Check our schedule below. Our meetings are customarily held on the second Thursday of month at 7 PM. We typically observe a summer recess in July and August.

  • Sign up for meeting notices using the form below. We will send out presentation announcements and webinar registration information to you.

  • Multiple options for attending our meetings:

    • In-Person: Starting in March 2023, we will host an in-person option for our meetings at Rainis Auditorium at St. Elizabeth University, 2 Convent Road, Morristown, NJ 07960. Driving directions are below.

    • Virtual: A virtual option will continue to be offered on Zoom. A link to register for the virtual option will be on the event page. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar. Webinar registration will only be available for meetings with announced presenters.

  • Admission is free and all are welcome. Doors for in-person attendees open at 7:00 PM. The membership portion of the meeting begins in-person and on Zoom at 7:30 PM and the presentations should begin around 8:00 PM.

DIRECTIONS TO Rainis Auditorium at St. Elizabeth University

Note to GPS users, do not follow route via Park Avenue as that entrance is currently closed. Please follow directions below.

From Bergen County. Take I-80 West to I-287 South (Morristown). Proceed to Exit 35 - Madison Avenue/Route 124. At the top of the exit ramp, turn left onto Madison Avenue. At the fifth traffic light, turn left onto Convent Road. Entrance to the University’s campus is just across the railroad tracks. Proceed to the guard house and veer left at the fork. Proceed through the stop sign at the bottom of the hill. Make the first left into the St. Joseph’s parking lot, if you miss this entrance there will be another entrance approx. 200 feet ahead (if you get to the roundabout, you have gone too far). Rainis Auditorium will be to the right. You can park in any open space.

From Southern New Jersey via Garden State Parkway. Take Garden State Parkway North to Exit 142B. I-78 will divide a few miles from the exit. Keep to the right and follow signs to Route 24 (Morristown). Continue on Route 24 West to Exit 2A (Route 510 West). After ramp, move to the far left lane and turn left at the first traffic light (Park Avenue). Proceed on Park Avenue, to Punch Bowl Road (on right, about .7 miles, immediately before the entrance to the University). Turn right onto Punch Bowl Road and proceed to Madison Avenue/Route 124. Turn left onto Madison Avenue/Route 124 and continue to Convent Road. Turn left onto Convent Road. Entrance to the University campus is just across the railroad tracks. Proceed to the guard house and veer left at the fork. Proceed through the stop sign at the bottom of the hill. From Southern New Jersey via New Jersey Turnpike. Take the New Jersey Turnpike North to Exit 10. Take I-287 North to Exit 35 - Madison Avenue/Route 124. Stay to the left on the exit ramp. From the exit ramp stoplight, turn left onto South Street. Make the first, immediate right at the sign for Route 124 East and then make the next right onto Madison Avenue/Route 124 East. Morristown Medical Center will be on your left. Stay to the right and proceed on Madison Avenue/Route 124 East. At the fifth light, turn left onto Convent Road. Entrance to the University’s campus is just across the railroad tracks. Proceed to the guard house and veer left at the fork. Proceed through the stop sign at the bottom of the hill.
