The Tri-State Railway Historical Society, Inc. is a non-profit, educational organization dedi­cated to the preservation of New Jersey's rich railroad heritage. Tri-State is one of the area's largest and most active railroad historical societies. Tri-State's origins date to 1964 with a few members meeting in a railroad freight house. It grew to become the largest NRHS chapter in the late 1970's.   more...

During July 2014 Erie Railroad bay-window caboose #C330 joined the Tri­State collection. It was one of 51 cabooses of this type on the Erie Railroad, built to replace the hundreds of wooden cabooses on the sprawling system that stretched from the Jersey City to Chicago. The bald spot in the curb in the above photo was the former Morris County Traction trolley line. The largest trestle on the trolley line was to the left of the crossing... [click to enlarge]
