The March 12th meeting will be a celebration of the Pennsylvania Railroad through two rare films from the collection of prolific author and historian Mitch Dakelman. The first is called Trains, Tracks & Safety Facts, produced by the PRR in 1956 and not yet available on video. Among its lessons for older kids and adults about trespassing and safety are terrific scenes of the PRR we know and love, with fast trains under wire and diesel powered freights everywhere, including the clean and pole-less Middle Division. Next is a title call Clear Track, a classic also not on video that promotes the Standard Railway of the World with some terrific posed and pacing set ups. Mitch is a long-time member and the film archivist for the National Railway Historical Society.
The meetings begin at 7:15 p.m. at the Morris Museum, Bickford Theater, 6 Normandy Heights Road, Morristown, NJ. Admission is free, and all are welcome. Light refreshments are often available.
