The January 9th meeting will feature veteran transportation journalist Joe Calisi, who has been covering the LIRR's East Side Access construction for many media outlets. The plan, dating from the 1950s and formally proposed in 1963, includes a new East River tunnel and a two-level station under today's Grand Central. Much is completed and there is much for us to see, including the new track construction near Sunnyside in Queens. This is currently one of the largest rail infrastructure projects in our area.
The meetings begin at 7:15 p.m. at the Morris Museum, Bickford Theater, 6 Normandy Heights Road, Morristown, NJ. Admission is free, and all are welcome. Light refreshments are often available.
