Tri-State will be a featured guest at Steamtown's Railfest 2017. This weekend-long event celebrates railroading and the trades in all of its forms. This year's theme is the Steam-Diesel Transition. Expect diesel powered train excursions to Moscow, PA with Tri-State's F3 No. 663, steam engine No. 26 on the Scranton Limited, the Caboose Experience, and rail motor car trips in different segments of the yard.
Our No. 19 will be on site as the only featured visiting locomotive as well!
Food tents will be available on the Steamtown grounds. Steamtown will also provide transportation, along with COLTS to La Festa Italiana, located a few blocks away at Lackawanna County Courthouse Square.
The Locomotive Shop will be open during Railfest so you can see different types of machinery in use. Machinists will explain the function of the devices, and how they work to preserve railroad artifacts. In the Office and Storage Building, railroad art and photos from Steamtown's vast archive will be on display.
Price for entrance to Railfest is $7.00 per adult, aged 16 and up. Under 16 has no charge. Your America the Beautiful Senior, Access and Annual pass can waive your park admission fees. Telephone (570) 340-5204 for details.
Excursion tickets to Moscow, PA are $24.00 for adults, aged 16-61. Senior tickets, aged 62 and over. are $22.00. Tickets for children aged 6-15 are $17.00. Up to age 5 require a ticket at no cost.
