Tri-State proudly presents Shane Blische, a rising young railroad historian who has been researching all things Bel-Del. New Jersey’s Belvidere Delaware Railroad meandered for nearly seventy miles along the eastern banks of the Delaware River, making its way from Trenton northwards to Phillipsburg, Belvidere, and Manunka Chunk. The line was one of countless subsidiary lines that composed the mighty Pennsylvania Railroad system. Constructed a decade before the Civil War, the line operated as a bustling freight route before becoming a casualty of Conrail. Blische is an active member of the Black River Historical Trust and has spent nearly ten years collecting information on the Bel-Del, growing up just across the Delaware River from the old rail line. He has pulled from his vast archive a number of photographs, postcards, and documents to frame his talk on the old Bel-Del’s history.
