Our first meeting of 2018 will start big, with a slideshow by Railfan & Railroad Magazine editor Steve Barry. This program will feature scenes of the hottest news stories of 2017. The two biggest surprises will be there: First, for our East Coast faithful, the rebirth of Clinchfield's first diesel locomotive: F3 No. 800 for the 2017 Santa Train and the photo runs for the press. How many Class 1 "first diesels" are still running today? Clinchfield 800 is only a few months younger than Tri-State's Lackawanna 663. Another big surprise of 2017 was the resurrection of a Southern Pacific Narrow Gauge steam locomotive on native rails. Steve will also show us a variety of short lines and steam charters and more. His shows are always a treat.
